I’ve had my Lodge skillet for over 30 years, bought when you had to season them yourself. The pre seasoned cast iron means you can cook with it right away. Lodge was founded in 1896 and is still making heirloom quality cast iron in the US. Lodge is an amazing combination of high quality and value. My go to when I want to cook something in traditional cast iron – makes the perfect crust on burgers and steaks.

Victoria is high quality cast iron from Medellín, Colombia. The choice of sizes and styles of cast iron is fantastic. If you need a cast iron grain or meat grinder you’ll find it from Victoria cast iron. The Victoria line now comes pre seasoned with a flax oil seasoning – one of the most durable available.
Primarily focused on outdoor cookware, Camp Chef nonetheless makes cast iron totally suitable for home use. Their skillets, griddles, and bakeware perform equally well in your kitchen as they do a camp site. They currently only sell dutch ovens for camp use – they have legs to hold them over a camp fire, and a ridged lid to hold burning coals. Not as large of a selection as Lodge, but a solid heirloom quality to all they make.
A newcomer in the cast iron cookware game, Lancaster makes great lightweight cast iron. The cookware is thinner than other cast iron. I thought this would be bad, but it makes the pan super responsive to heat changes. It doesn’t hold onto heat the way traditional cast iron does, but it can get to the same high temps to perfectly sear steaks and burgers. It is easier to handle being much lighter than others. The selection is limited at the moment, but hopefully will expand. They are hand finished with a smooth interior that I love.
Functional Art is a great description of Finex. Everything was designed from the ground up to create some of the best cast iron cookware available on the market. The spiraling stainless steel wrapped handle is remarkable at not heating up quickly, and the heavy bottoms heat evenly and retain heat for a long time.
