Duxtop Portable Double Induction Cooktop

Duxtop continues to be the leader in portable induction cooktops. I love the ability to adjust the temperature and power settings independently and the Duxtop gives more options than any of these other cooktops. It took me a while to appreciate the subtleties, but I really like the control now. An impressive 1800 watts maximum power quickly heats up and cooking starts nearly instantaneously. This is my top choice for a double induction cooktop.

COOKTRON Double Induction Cooktop Burner

My favorite feature of the high quality Cooktron is the knobs that quickly and intuitively adjust the power of each induction burner. This works so much like a traditional gas range that it’s an easy step to incorporating a portable induction cooktop into your kitchen.

NUWAVE Double Precision Induction Cooktop

The Nuwave has some impressive features that others are lacking. Large 8 inch coils can heat large cookware quickly and evenly. It also has some of the lowest temperature presets – starting at 100 degrees. Not only can the Nuwave quickly sear, but can also simmer and keep dishes hot. This one is perfect for a buffet line.

6 temperature presets range from 100 to 575 degrees. 2 power levels from 900 to 1800 watts.

Like the others, the Aobosi also has a maximum power of 1800 watts. I like the independent controls for temperature and power for each induction burner – no need to choose a function from a less cluttered display. The timers can also easily be set from 1 to 240 minutes.

What is Induction Cooking

Induction cooking uses an alternating magnetic field to create heat. There are no open flames, the pan itself generates the heat for cooking. It is a very energy efficient way of cooking. An induction cooktop needs the right kind of cookware in order to work. Magnetic cookware such as cast iron, enameled cast iron and certain types of stainless work great on an induction hob.

What Makes a Great Portable Double Induction Cooktop

All of these induction cooktops give you a range of preset temperature, and allow you to adjust that during cooking. They all have timer functions too – I love being able to set a timer and not worry about scorching food, the cooker turns off automatically when the timer ends. These are all easy to clean too, with either a glass or ceramic cooking surface.

Although the cooktops don’t actually generate heat themselves they can still get hot. With extended cooking the surface will pick up heat from being in contact with the pan. Let the cooktop cool down before cleaning or storing the unit.

These all have safety features such as non-induction cookware alerts, child locks (to prevent the program from being accidentally changed, and overheat prevention.

A portable induction cooker is also a great way to test the waters of induction cooking. Super helpful to see if you will like it before remodeling a kitchen with a full size induction cooktop.
