Massachusetts is home to native American cranberries, and some of the cranberry vines on Cape Code date back more than 150 years. The Cape Cod, or Cape Codder is named for this place of cranberry history.

Sweet, tart, and crisp are hallmarks of the Cape Cod. A deep crimson blend of cranberry juice cocktail and vodka. A Cape Cod is perfect for a day at the beach, brunches, or anytime a crisp cocktail is needed.

Cape Cod Recipe

2 ounces vodka
4 ounces cranberry juice cocktail
Garnish: lime wedge

In a highball glass half filled with ice add the vodka and top with the cranberry juice cocktail.
Stir and garnish with a lime wedge.

Make sure to use cranberry juice cocktail, which is sweetened. Unsweetened cranberry juice is very, very tart and needs to be sweetened. I like to garnish with a lime wedge. That extra touch of lime balances the cranberry juice cocktail beautifully. The Cape Cod is an excellent quenching cocktail.

Riedel Highball Glasses

I love these sturdy highball glasses. It’s what I used in the Cape Cod photo above. These not only look and feel good in your hand, you can fit those larger 2 inch ice cubes in them.

8 Inch Glass Straws

Drinks like the Cape Cod are great with a straw that doubles as a drink stirrer. These are the perfect size to use with the Riedel Highball glass (see the feature image above). These are thinner than most glass straws, a feature that I love.

Linen Cocktail Napkins

The perfect finishing touch. I love these classic hemstitched linen napkins. You can never have too many linen napkins, and these come in an amazing assortment of colors too. They always look good whether starched crisp or left natural and wrinkled.
