The Daiquiri is a cocktail that beautifully balances simplicity and elegance. Comprising just three core ingredients—rum, lime juice, and simple syrup—it’s a testament to the idea that less can indeed be more when it comes to crafting a delightful libation.
Named after the beach near Santiago de Cuba, where the cocktail first gained popularity, the Daiquiri is a perfect marriage of tropical flavors and sophistication. It is believed that American mining engineer Jennings Cox first created this cocktail while working in a remote area. Facing a shortage of ingredients, Cox mixed white rum, lime juice, and sugar, creating a drink that would later become a global sensation.
2 ounces white rum
¾ ounce fresh lime juice
¾ ounce simple syrup
Garnish: 1 lime wheel or wedge
In a cocktail shaker combine the run, lime juice, and simple syrup with ice.
Strain into a coupe.
Garnish with lime wheel or wedge.
Variation on the Classic Daiquiri
Sour Orange Daiquiri

The classic Daiquiri remains an unadulterated masterpiece. With a base of light rum, freshly squeezed lime juice, and a touch of simple syrup, it’s a harmonious blend that embodies the essence of the cocktail. Embark on a tropical journey with a Daiquiri today! Cheers!

The perfect finishing touch. I love these classic hemstitched linen napkins. You can never have too many linen napkins, and these come in an amazing assortment of colors to match any decor.
For the occasional cocktail I rely on my Norpro juicer. It’s a great heavy duty stainless steel and has lasted me many many years of drink making. It handles oranges, lemons, and limes easily – it’s a bit small for grapefruits. Perfect for the occasional Daiquiri.
