If you’re a fan of tequila and looking for a refreshing and zesty cocktail to quench your thirst, look no further than the Paloma cocktail. This delightful concoction is a perfect balance of tequila, grapefruit soda, and lime.
The Paloma, a beloved drink that originated in Mexico, holds a special place in the hearts of cocktail enthusiasts worldwide. While its exact origins are somewhat shrouded in mystery, it is believed to have emerged in the mid-20th century. Although overshadowed by its more famous cousin, the Margarita, the Paloma has earned its place as a classic cocktail with a devoted fan base.
The Paloma cocktail is a refreshing and versatile drink that captures the essence of Mexico in every sip. Its simple yet bold flavors make it a perfect choice for both tequila enthusiasts and newcomers to the world of cocktails. So, the next time you’re looking for a zesty and delightful drink to cool off on a hot day or celebrate with friends, reach for a Paloma and experience the magic of this classic Mexican cocktail.

4 ounces grapefruit soda
Garnish: grapefruit wedge

I really like Polar’s Sparkling Dry Grapefruit soda for this, it has a great flavor and color. Other brands that are great are Ting, Spindrift, and Jarritos.

Recommended Products for a Perfect Paloma
Polar Sparkling Grapefruit Soda
Of all the grapefruit sodas I’ve tried, this made the best Paloma to my taste. Polar is made with real pink grapefruit juice too. The flavor is very fresh and clean. It’s perfect for a Paloma.
Riedel Highball Glasses
I love these sturdy highball glasses. It’s what I used in the photo above. These not only look and feel good in your hand, you can fit those larger 2 inch ice cubes in them.
Glass Straws 8 Inch
Summer drinks like a Paloma are great with a straw that doubles as a drink stirrer. These are the perfect size to use with the Riedel Highball glass (see the feature image above). These are thinner than most glass straws, a feature that I love.
White Linen Cocktail Napkins
The perfect finishing touch. I love these classic hemstitched linen napkins. You can never have too many white linen napkins, and these come in an amazing assortment of colors too.
